The “Genova Express” during her sea trial in the Korean Strait
Lines are cast off, while the bridge and engine room buzz with the activity of engineers, surveyors, shipyard specialists and crew. Headsets on, checklists in hand. All eyes shift between glowing screens and the horizon. The “Genova Express” faces a decisive moment before her delivery. During her sea trial, months of construction are put to the test under real-life conditions.
Propulsion, steering, navigation and safety systems move from theory into practice. Every maneuver and data reading of the ship – which remains under the shipyard’s command until handover – requires close coordination between bridge, engine room and technical teams. On board, Captain Danica Menze and her crew work closely with Site Manager Oscar Nowicki and his team, alongside specialists from the Hanwha shipyard in South Korea and surveyors from the DNV classification society. It’s a complex partnership between people, companies and technology – all working toward one shared objective.
Will the “Genova Express” pass her final test?
