In Kitakyushu, Japan, Hapag-Lloyd Special Cargo expert David Piel teamed up with Tokyo-based colleagues and counterparts from Bridgestone Corporation and a logistics partner to load mining-vehicle tires bound for Sydney, Australia.
Weighing over 6.5 tons and around 4 meters high, the tires are safely shipped in open-top steel containers.
ports worldwide At sea, Hapag-Lloyd’s liner network connects more than 600 ports across global trade routes.
land touchpoints Beyond the port, Hapag-Lloyd arranges onward transport by truck, rail and barge. Its network of 501 ports, 609 depots and 439 inland terminals supports these inland connections to extend our reach beyond the coastline.

2005 – Acquisition of Canadian Pacific Ships (CP Ships)
2014 – Acquisition of the container business of Compañía Sudamericana de Vapores (CSAV)
